About this activity

Sometimes kids, you have to stop and wonder what is actually BELOW your feet - there are some treasures down there!

However, if you head out to Missouri and the Meramec Valley, you actually get a chance to see first hand what incredible sights there are deep underground - with Meramec Caverns!

Meramec Caverns are a complex of mineral formations and colors, that are very beautiful and very rare! These incredible formations and sights took thousands of years to form, and now luckily for you, they are open to the public for exploration!

The best way for the family to see Meramec Caverns are by guided tours, led by trained rangers. The cavern trails are well-lit walkways, and all of the cavern facilities are handicapped accessible, so the ENTIRE family really can go on an adventure!

A trip to these amazing caverns is also a great learning experience for the kids. They can learn about the history of the area, and geology - especially hope these ancient spectacles were formed.

Want to hear something really cool too? On the tour you will get to see both the largest AND the more rare cave formations in the entire WORLD! Pretty special!

If you want to extend your adventure in the area, there are also canoeing opportunities, as well as camping, so you can really make a fun adventure out of the day!
