All aboard! We're off to the San Francisco Railway Museum in of course the wonderful city by the Bay, and also happens to be one of the few places in the world where you can actually experience riding a vintage rail transit in it's "natural habitat"!
Just use that imagination as you feel the rumble of the motors under your feed, and the swaying of the car and the smell of the brakes, and think back to when these streetcars were standard around the city. What a place to be back then!
Of course, learning about the rail history of the city is just as fun, and so a visit to the San Francisco Railway Museum is great for that as it celebrates the history of rail transit in San Francisco and explores its significant impact on the quality of urban life in this great city throughout its storied history.
The museum features unique historic artifacts to tell the story of it's history, with a highlight being a full-sized replica of the motorman's platform of a 1911 San Francisco streetcar! In addition, you get to see illustrative and informative displays, rarely seen archival photography, in-depth historical interpretation, and audio-visual exhibits.
All of this is in addition to a wide variety of unique San Francisco gifts, souvenirs and memorabilia you won't find anywhere else in the store, so get ready for quite a day out on rails!
